Post Mortem Japanese funeral procession photograph on Yokahoma street. Photographer Tamura Kozaburo was born in 1856 and opened his popular Meiji era studio in 1874. He apprenticed under Kanemaru Genzo in Edo.The earthquake of 1923 closed forever his shop. This huge hand colored albumen measures ten inches by seven and a half and is on it's original mount. Great details in te crows of mourners. The casket is very ornate and pall bearers expressive.
