Mourning Antique Victorian Scrapbook Human Hair. Antique scrapbook of Mourning human hair clippings, dated 1849 to 1851.
35 different clippings, 21 of which are intricately braided.
Woven into designs secured with ribbon ties and hand stitched to the pages.
This museum quality rarity contains several Limericks and poems.
Likely a friendship scrapbook, though most hair samples from married women

When I am Dead and in my Grave,
And all my Bones are rotten'
Look at this and think of me,
Lest I should be Forgotten! 1851

This lock of Hair, I once did wear
But now I trust it to your care.
Look oft at this and think of me,
When I am far away from thee! 1849

Paper bound notebook contains name and date for each specimen.

This trade card like piece states in German, Death Is No Respector Of Persons. It goes on to list; old, young, Pope, emperor, king , count, baron, burger, farmer, rich, poor, all in a circle of skulls and bones. Superb graphic.

Predident William McKinley Memorial Scrapbook 1901 The end of the Victorian era went out with a bang as US President McKinley was assassinated. This rare hand made scrap book is an amazing collection of period newspaper clippings documenting the nations loss and mourning. Articles include the funeral, hearse, services, the Anarchists, the late Presidents wife, even the gun used to kill the Commander and chief are depicted. Housed in a hard card cover music book, the original owner must have been quite the politician’s fan of this martyred politico. Rare political history.
